Western School of Science and Technology: A Challenge Foundation Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school serving 7-12 in Phoenix, Arizona’s Maryvale neighborhood dedicated to ensuring that all students are ready for college and career after high school graduation.

Job Title: Geometry Teacher

Job Type: Full-time, 11-month contract

Reports to: Principal 

Staff to manage: None

Department: Instructional

Number of Prep Periods: 2

Location: On campus (Not eligible for remote work)

Starting Salary: $52,000-$69,000


General Description: 
As a Geometry Teacher, you will actively engage students in the exploration of geometric concepts, creating dynamic lesson plans that foster understanding and critical thinking. You will assign and grade homework, manage classroom behavior, and communicate regularly with families to ensure student success. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing students for standardized tests, helping them build the skills needed for academic achievement in mathematics. 
What we are looking for in a team member at Western:  

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) 
  • Bilingual- Spanish (preferred).  
  • Experience in this field 
  • Valid State of Arizona “IVP” Fingerprint Clearance Card (or acquired prior to employment).  
  • Experience supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges 
  • Knowledge of child development concepts and practices.  
  • Knowledge of education laws and regulations 
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the target or similar communities and in a similar role. 
  • Use best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment to support student learning. 
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment where all students thrive. 
  • Maintains consistent, punctual, and regular attendance. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Tailor instruction to meet the needs of individual students and small groups 
  • Evaluate and cultivate the academic and social growth of students 
  • Monitor progress toward course standards 
  • Maintain strong classroom behavior and establish clear expectations 
  • Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities 
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through in-service training and self-selected opportunities 
  • Assist in advisory classes for student mentorship, parent communication, and advocacy 
  • Ensure student safety by fulfilling supervision duties throughout the day 
  • Build collaborative relationships and maintain mutual respect with students and colleagues. 
  • Analyze assessment results to modify instruction. 
  • Follow directives and apply relevant rules and regulations. 
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities based on the needs of the school

Physical Demands: 

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time, in both indoor and outdoor environments. 
  • Stamina to work a full day; including supervise evening events/meetings 
  • Work at a desk, conference table, small student classroom table, or in meetings in various configurations. 
  • Kneel, bend at the waist, and reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. 
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects.
