POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • Masters degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Experience

  • Three years of relevant teaching experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in the school

 

 

OR

 

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis.

 

 

Other Requirements

  • Hold a valid Arizona Principals Certificate
  • Hold a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • State Certificate in subject areas taught or related field
  • State of Arizona state certification in secondary education

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Assists site director, principal and teachers with instructional planning.
  • Helps supervise teacher as they plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students on site.
  • Observe and evaluate teacher’s performance and development verbally and in written form.
  • Use and operate relevant technology and equipment provided by they school to support instructional program.
  • Monitor assigned and graded classwork, homework, tests and assignments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Identify when a teacher is providing a fully prepared classroom for class activities (physically and mentally).
  • Effectively communicate necessary information regularly to teachers, students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs in written and verbal communications.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual teachers.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on teachers’ work in writing and verbally.
  • Maintain accurate and complete written records of teachers’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, procedures and school regulations.
  • Prepare required written reports on teachers’ and students’ and activities.
  • Assist teachers as they manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures that correlate to Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school as stated in Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures and school level handbooks.
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary to maintain an effective school environment (as described in Sequoia’s Policies and Procedures (best practices)).
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to teacher and student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the administration.

 

Working Conditions

Duties are performed in an office setting.
