POSITION SUMMARY:   The successful candidate is a highly effective master teacher who can provide teachers with coaching in research-based instructional practices (i.e. Essential Elements of Instruction), engagement strategies, data analysis, and effective planning to ensure each student is provided learning opportunities to move to the next academic level.

●        Plans, organizes, facilitates and provides ongoing and meaningful training aligned with the district’s professional development framework.

●        Assists in the development and maintenance of Professional Learning Communities.

●        Provides job-embedded professional development and coaching to staff using appropriate coaching techniques – tracks observations, and provide feedback;

●        Coach teachers on the effective use of all district curriculum and assessment resources;

●        Models lessons to include exemplar instructional and engagement strategies;

●        Conducts classroom observations to ensure implementation of skills aligned to the standards and on the pacing calendar as well as techniques, and/or knowledge gained from professional development utilizing scripted note taking and observation checklists;

●        Conducts periodic checks of teacher lesson plans for inclusion of new skills, strategies and/or techniques, engagement strategies, Essential Standards and EEI;

●        Provides guidance and corrective feedback in a positive manner to teachers as they learn new skills and begin implementing them in their classroom instruction;

●        Coaches teachers in how to use assessment data results to inform instruction, group students and provide intervention;

●        Reviews progress of each grade level/content area as based on disaggregated data and provides assistance to individual teachers or grade levels in developing a plan for remediation and/or goals for improving the areas of weakness;

●        Facilitates Teacher Mentorship Program and  New Teacher Induction in collaboration with other instructional coaches  and the Executive Director of Educational Services;

●        Works in conjunction with the Executive Director of Educational Services in ensuring curriculum, assessment and instruction are in compliance with the CAILL Framework;

●        Participates in a professional learning community;

●        Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board.

●        Other job related duties as assigned.



●        Valid and Proper Arizona Certification

●        3 years successful teaching experience; 5 years preferred

●        Master’s Degree in education field, preferred

●        Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.

●        Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.  Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.

●        Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

●        Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.  Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

●        Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


●        Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee occasionally will stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The Instructional Coach position for Wickenburg Unified School District is for the schools in the Town of Wickenburg.  It is a part time position.  24 hours a week.  

Salary Range $25,899 - $31,258.20

WUSD enjoys a 4 day work week Monday - Thursday.

Wickenburg, AZ is a rural community with approximately 8,000 full time residents.  It is located in the beautiful Sonoran desert. The downtown boasts a western town feel.  It draws horse lovers, ropers and many winter visitors from all over the nation that reside in the fall/winter season.  Gold Rush days in February hosts one of Arizona's largest parades and rodeos bringing in thousands more to our community for a weekend.  There are many churches, banks and 2 grocery stores.  Greater shopping is found in Surprise, AZ  about 30 minutes away.
