Job Summary:

 

  • The Training, Communications, and Nutrition Promotion team will be responsible for providing professional development and communications to ensure that Child Nutrition Program operators and Health and Nutrition Services (HNS) staff have the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to manage, operate, and elevate Child Nutrition Programs (CNPs) in Arizona.
  • This team will influence the perception held by Arizona communities as it relates to nutritional benefits of CNPs and outputs from ADE-HNS.  The team will elevate the credibility of the CNPs and nutritional benefits they provide within the greater context of education and community-based health programming.
  • This position will serve to inform and develop Child Nutrition Programs operators by releasing guidance and delivering content through memorandums and manuals that meet the professional branding standards set by the agency. This will be accomplished through email campaigns, creation of resources and trainings or workshops. The primary focus of this position is to provide guidance related to program growth and adherence to programmatic regulations. This position will work as part of a team with like duties under the Director of Training, Communications and Nutrition Promotion.

·         Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is required for this position.

 

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs).  Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Design and deliver trainings/presentations to all Child Nutrition Program operators in both synchronous and asynchronous platforms (live webinars, in-person classroom setting, professional development/workshop, online courses, step-by-step instructions, conference sessions, advisory meetings) that incorporate training and facilitation elements for the adult learner
  • Create, design, brand and publish professional materials across all Child Nutrition Programs with content reflecting program compliance, nutrition integrity, and meal access. Outputs include but not limited to guidance manuals, handouts, toolkits, promotional materials, initiatives, recipes, upLIFT materials
  • Coordinate the organization of, and access to guidance and reference materials needed to support  knowledge of all program areas
  • Responsible for releasing cohesive materials and templates only meeting HNS branding standards
  • Ensure comprehensive inventory of final resources and design templates for internal team use (team training, interactive training, step-by-steps, agendas, etc.)
  • Participate in in-person design critiques and peer review for team outputs and communications

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

 

Knowledge in:

  • Federal regulations, state laws and policies pertaining to all Child Nutrition Programs
  • Grant writing and administration
  • National and local legislative and health and nutrition program issues
  • Visual design strategies for mixed media 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required

Selective Preferences:

 

Preference will be given to those applicants with:

·         Registered Dietitian (RD) credential

·         Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) credential

·         School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) certification

Retirement:

 

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
