Title: Assistant Principal

 

Reports to: Principal

 

Supervises: Teachers, Support Staff

 

Job Description: Support and assist the principal in the operation of the school. 

 

Qualifications: 

Master Degree in Education, Educational Administration, or in a related field 

Arizona Administrative (Principal) Certification 

Minimum three (3) years successful teaching experience in public schools

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and serve as principal when the principal is absent.  
  • Provide leadership support to the site Principal in order to increase student achievement.
  • To provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.
  • To provide leadership and support to the principal in the following organizational areas.
    • Summer school registration
    • ELL
    • Coordination of PTA activities
    • Curriculum organization
    • Professional Development (site-based) for staff
    • Other administrative tasks as assigned by the principal
  • Supervise student conduct within the school, and oversee student disciplinary procedures, keeping records of any disciplinary action.  
  • Assist the principal in the coordination and supervision of transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services.  
  • Assist the principal in the evaluation of certified and classified staff.  
  • Assist the principal in preparation of requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and supplementary teaching materials and maintain a record of receipt and inventory of such materials. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes, supplies, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and to interact with the public and other staff.
