Job Description:

Come join the team at Valentine Elementary School to serve our exceptional student population in north central Arizona. We are a K-8 school with fewer than 100 students on a Monday-Thursday school week. 

Position responsibilities:

·      Adapt existing curriculum to accommodate learning needs of individual students;

·      Provide research-based specialized instruction to address student learning goals;

·      Collaborate with families and school personnel to address factors that may hinder student progress;

·      Lead team in developing and implementing student Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans;

·      Maintain exceptional student management system (e-IEP Pro);

·      Coordinate the delivery of special education services;

·      Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of educational assistants as directed;

·      Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administration, and the general public;

·      Maintain all required documentation.

Other functions include, but are not limited to:

·      Establish and maintain student standards of conduct in the classroom, school premises, and during school activities;

·      Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding accommodations;

·      Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and skills

·      Working knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies;

·      Patient, resourceful, punctual, and resilient personality;

·      Ability to effectively analyze needs and solve problems objectively;

·      Attention to detail;

·      Ability to meet deadlines;

·      Working knowledge of relevant educational technology;

·      Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult-size body weight with two-to-three-person lift);

·      BA/BS degree in special education from an accredited institution;

·      Valid AZ special education certificate.

• Monday - Thursday school week;
• 147-day contract: July 29, 2024 - May 22, 2025;
• Instructional assistant;
• On-site instructional coaching.
