Job Description:

Desert Heights Charter School is growing! Our Kinder - 4th grade special education program has an opening for a certified special education teacher to join our well established, highly functioning instructional team.  Our department is a dynamic group of educators who are deeply committed to developing programs that support children and reduce barriers to learning. Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide daily instruction to students

• Plan and implement evidence-based instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, that reflect understanding of evaluation data, learning styles, and the educational needs of students on current caseload
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning, developing, and accommodating/modifying general education curricula as needed
• Plan and supervise assignments for paraprofessionals

• Create, implement, and monitor behavior plans

• Comply with all state and federal rules, regulations, and statues relating to special education. This includes, but is not limited to, understanding, and following all timelines related to due dates on IEP and MET paperwork, child studies, and parent requests (verbal and written)

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education Preferred
• AZ Special Education Teaching Certificate pr Reciprocal Agreement with approved areas
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Strong communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Programs and Apple devices and applications 
• Ability to utilize technology tools such as a Student Information System, Grade Books, Electronic Communication, Online Curriculum and Learning Management System
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a team
• Flexible, organized, positive professional conduct
