Job Description

We are seeking an Educational Coordinator with a passion for family-centered learning, learning outside of school, reimagining online K12 education, and making a positive contribution in the lives of families and staff. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of K-12 education in a virtual setting, with a strong background in home education curriculum and philosophy.

You will work with our Executive Director to ensure that all students have access to a well rounded education, create and teach academic and enrichment classes/clubs, and promote a positive and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities:

The Educational Coordinator (EC) is responsible for supervising the education of assigned K-12th grade students. The EC creates an individual learning plan for each student that supports progression of the standards and addresses any need for academic intervention and enrichment. The EC will collaborate with each student’s Course Mentor to provide guidance, resources, and strategies to ensure an optimal learning environment and social/emotional growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a roster of up to 50 students
  • Meet with students and learning coaches at least once every 20 school days to review and evaluate each student’s body of work and ensure each student is making adequate progress
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with students and their Course Mentors
  • Collaborate with Course Mentors to create customized learning plans that meet the learning style and needs of each student
  • Help Course Mentors select and order curriculum that aligns with learning goals
  • Review and approve enrichment orders for materials and services that support the student’s learning plan in accordance with school policies
  • Complete all compliance items and required paperwork accurately and on time (i.e. master agreements, attendance, learning logs, work samples/records, assignment work records, and report cards)
  • Ensure student participation in local and state-mandated testing
  • Participate in proctoring internal and state-mandated testing
  • Support families in the preparation for assessments. Collect and analyze     assessment data for educational planning and to determine appropriate interventions
  • Attend weekly Team Meetings and work with the Executive Director on areas of focus and to identify, problem solve and prevent/address issues that may arise
  • Actively participate in SST, 504, and SPED meetings, processes and supports as needed
  • Provide input and documentation as requested by SPED case managers, student support coordinators and/or service providers
  • Attend all required in-person and virtual Professional Developments and complete all training and professional development modules as assigned
  • Plan and participate in events and duties that support the school community in such as field trips, park days, conferences, clubs, service activities, and community events that meet annual expectations
  • Respond to emails, voicemail, and text messages within one business day
  • Maintain availability during business hours Monday-Friday
  • Develop and teach virtually 2 enrichment classes and 1 club per week
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a valid Teaching Credential in the state of Arizona, (Credentials from other states may be acceptable)

Homeschooling/Independent Study experience (desired)

Knowledge of various learning modalities, curriculum choices, strategies and homeschooling and educational philosophies

Possess proficiency in key technical skills and the ability to navigate within Google Suite, Microsoft Office, educational software, virtual meeting platforms, and information systems

Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Highly self-motivated and takes initiative
