Job Description:

SUMMARY

With broad responsibility for day-to-day financial activities and oversight of a $500 million plus budget, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Tucson Unified School District directs the operations and staff of the Financial Services Department to best support teaching and learning. The CFO is responsible for advising the superintendent and school board on the financial and budget matters of the district, and administering the finances in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. The CFO directs all business/finance functions including accounting, budgeting, grants management, payroll, and purchasing. Act as the District’s liaison at statewide school finance committees. Responsible for selected monitoring reports in support of Superintendents’ Executive Limitations. Performs long and short-range planning, oversees special projects, and provides analyses to support Governing Board and Superintendent vision.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree

Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Public Administration, Educational Administration, or related field.

Ten years of progressive financial or related fund accounting experience.

Five years of Arizona school finance accounting experience.

Experience developing and managing large budgets.

Any equivalent combination of experience, training or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Business Administration

Certified Public Accountant

Five years of school district financial management experience.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE

Ability to use high level interpersonal skills in order to maintain effective relationships.

Experience facilitating the development and implementation of a strategic plan.

Experience developing and managing budgets.

Experience in financial information systems.

Proven ability to oversee staff and build consensus among peer professionals unfamiliar with financial management.

Experience using Infinite Visions financial accounting system.

Effective: 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Financial Services - 1010 E. 10th Street
FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month

Salary Range: $ 103,650.25 - $ 120.334.72
