Mission Statement: Ignite Learning Academy propels student curiosity, engages students in personalized learning, and inspires a passion for learning in a safe and encouraging online environment. As a gifted teacher, you will work directly with students to deliver content, acceleration, and additional assistance as requested by the student/family or determined by data. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with your peers as well as with the student’s family. You will be a part of the robust gifted department and may be assigned a self-contained gifted classroom or a pull-out gifted classroom, based on student enrollment and qualification to the gifted program. Students will receive their online asynchronous instruction through gifted-specific courses and supplemented by daily 1-hour live classes with you, as their teacher. Instruction will be delivered by way of a web-conferencing tool, in response to emails, and even over the phone. Students are held accountable for making forward progress in the curriculum, but students will learn at different rates of speed, have differing interests, and will be uniquely motivated. Required Qualifications • Possess a passionate belief that online education is the ideal school option many children in grades K-12 and work to inspire learning and passion within all students; • Believe every child learns in unique ways and is capable of success; • The desire to work 1-on-1 with students to ensure instruction is appropriate for their individualized needs; • Possess the ability to build rapport with both the student and the parent in a collaborative environment; • Posses a deep understanding of the challenges facing gifted students; • Bachelor’s degree; • Gifted teacher certification/endorsement (issued by any US state); • Fingerprint Clearance Card (issued by any US state); • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); • Exemplary written and oral communication skills; • The ability to quickly learn new technological tools (Learning Management Systems, Online Schools, web-conferencing tools, etc.); • Ability to work traditional business hours with occasional evening or weekend calls to families; • Ability to pass a background check Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree • Experience teaching in an online/virtual environment • Familiarity with web-conferencing tools Ignite Learning Academy provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
