Mission Statement: Ignite Learning Academy propels student curiosity, engages students in personalized learning, and inspires a passion for learning in a safe and encouraging online environment. As a self-contained special education teacher, you will work directly with students to deliver live instruction, via the online classroom, to students with severe developmental delays. The curriculum utilized by the school is ABA-based and includes academic, social, and life skills instruction and activities. You will also work one-on-one with students and families to provide additional assistance as requested by the student/family or determined by data. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with your peers as well as with the student’s family. Every student will have a unique learning plan with goals aligned to their individual needs. You will implement accommodations and work alongside other ILA teachers to ensure students are receiving instruction in the least restrictive environment. Required Qualifications • Possess a passionate belief that online education is the ideal school option many children in grades K-12 and work to inspire learning and passion within all students; • Believe every child learns in unique ways and is capable of success; • The desire to work 1-on-1 and in small groups with students to ensure instruction is appropriate for their individualized needs; • Possess the ability to build rapport with both the student and the parent in a collaborative environment; • Have experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom (in-person or online); • Be familiar with autism, down syndrome, and other common disabilities and have a deep understanding of accommodations and instructional practices that will best support their learning; • The desire to be part of a collaborative team of educators; • Bachelor’s degree; • Teaching certificate relevant to position sought (issued by any US state) • Fingerprint Clearance Card (issued by any US state); • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); • Exemplary written and oral communication skills; • The ability to quickly learn new technological tools (Learning Management Systems, Online Schools, web-conferencing tools, etc.); • Ability to work traditional business hours with occasional evening or weekend calls to families; • Ability to pass a background check Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree • Experience teaching in an online/virtual environment • Familiarity with web-conferencing tools Ignite Learning Academy provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
