Salary Range:

$21.00 - $26.00 USD hourly

The Payroll Clerk is required to work in a team environment and have excellent communication and organizational skills. This position prepares, processes, and maintains payroll documents and communicates frequently with the payroll team, managers, and employees to ensure the accuracy of pay information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate, Associate’s degree preferred

  • One to three years’ experience in a customer service role.

  • One year experience in payroll processing.

  • Minimum one year experience with Workday, preferred.

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, preferred.

  • Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which combined knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect, review, and submit all payroll documentation required to process employee payroll every pay cycle.

  • Assist with maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system (WorkDay).

  • Ensure that ASU Prep stays compliant as it relates to all required tax filings.

  • Act as a liaison between the WorkDay/ADP payroll processing team and ASU Prep staff.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding discrepancies and payroll policies/procedures.

  • Research and answer payroll related questions.

  • Provide outstanding customer service.

  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, and local payroll regulations.

  • Work with new and existing employees on accessing their payroll information.

  • Prepares reports for various governmental agencies.

  • Stay abreast of current payroll laws and changes and ensure processes and policies follow these rules.

  • Maintain all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures.

  • Provide backup clerical support for the business services department as assigned.

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and department rules affecting payroll preparation.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage confidential matters discretely and with good judgment.

  • Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor and ability to take initiative.

  • Skilled in use of MS Office and other software/applications.

  • Ability to demonstrate learning agility and critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to multitask in a high energy working environment.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee must use hands, arms and fingers to input data, handle, feel or reach. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 15 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

TRAVEL: 

Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
