Job Summary:

 

·       This position is responsible for special projects of the Finance unit, including preparing the agency's Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and Superintendent's reports, closing out all accounts awarded to the agency, managing indirect charges, and maintaining the agency's monthly grant tracking report. This position is integral to the unit and to fulfill agency statutory and federal mandates.

·       Rare in-state travel is required for this position.

 

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs).  Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

 

Job Duties:

 

This position:

  • Plans and conducts various and ongoing financial analysis of accounting data, manages the indirect cost rate charges for all federal grants, state funds, Interagency Service Agreement (ISA) funds, and performs various and complex reconciliations of AZ360 accounting system data to agency enterprise and legacy systems;
  • Reviews monthly DAFR 6720 (revenue and expense report) for the entire agency and reconciles amounts, reviews expenditures for proper allocation, and ensures that expenditures do not exceed funds available and the funds are used properly;
  • Assures that the agency budgets are being adhered to;
  • Prepares federal, state, and internal reports such as the Grant Tracking Report, Superintendent’s Report, and the SEFA Report. Closes out federal grants and state appropriations;
  • Completes various reports requested by agency personnel assuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations;
  • Processes all agency expenditure transfers ensuring centralized oversight of process;
  • Processes all interdepartmental transfers;
  • Prepares comprehensive financial reports, conducts user acceptance testing of new reports created by Information Technology (IT), and recommends system enhancements; 
  • Prepares agency wide allocations such as Rent, IT, Risk Assessment, Reach, and Telecom;
  • Manages special financial projects in coordination with agency budget unit; and
  • Processes all activity code set up requests from the Procurement Group in AZ360 and maintains the activity codes

·       A Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required

Selective Preferences:

 

  • Preference will be given to those applicants with prior working knowledge of AZ360

Retirement:

 

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
