Job Description:

Position Summary:  

The Sr Manager of Special Programs will provide direction and assistance in the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of legal compliance activities and coordination pertaining to students in 504, ELL and Gifted Education.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

·       Use a variety of evidence-based methods, techniques, and practices in Special Education related compliance.

·       Compose and comprehend written communication and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel, both individually and as a group.

·       Work effectively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socio-economic groups; - implement staff development and in-service resources.

·       Make formal, public presentations.

·       Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

·       Meet and maintain the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned job functions in a safe and effective manner.

·       Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Job Specific Skills/Abilities:

·        Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on the instruction of students with disabilities.

·        Provides instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals

·        Collaborate with teaching staff on the development and update IEP goals and progress for students on assigned caseload

·        Foster collegiality and team building among staff members

·        Assist Sr. Director in evaluating job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.

·        Make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, retention, and dismissal.

·        Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students

·        Participates in professional learning activities and plans/delivers professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students with disabilities.

·        Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to special education.

The Successful Candidate possesses:

·       Fundamental principles and accepted practices, current trends, literature, and research in English Learners, and Title I regulations.

·        Section 504, Gifted, EL and other special programs regulations and best practices.

Education/Training:

·        Minimum of five (5) years previous teaching experience or similar experience.

·        Minimum of two (2) years prior administrative experience preferred or similar experience.

·        Current AZ Teaching License in Special Education
