Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Student Services Analyst within the Financial Aid department. This position will coordinate, administer, and implement programs such as, but not limited to, Pell Grants, Federal Student Loans, Work Study, Institutional and State scholarships. The Student Services Analyst will also assist with operational and financial functions within the Financial Aid office as assigned, provide high-quality customer service assistance, provide leadership on special projects and committees as directed, and support the administration of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs to students. This position will be a subject matter expert and support all aspects of Financial Aid Compliance, Title IV funding, and packaging. The Student Services Analyst will be required to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail. Additionally, this position will assist with recruiting events and other campus/external events such as Open Houses, High School FAFSA nights, SCC-specific events, and orientation events.

Essential Functions

25% - Coordinates and administers the Financial Aid office's adherence to State, Federal, and Institutional regulations, and guidelines as appropriate. Performs needs analysis and packages all forms of financial aid in accordance with Federal, State, and institutional regulations and policies. Maintains current knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations, state rules, and institutional policies pertaining to financial aid program requirements criteria to evaluate and determine eligibility; and/or evaluates policy to determine and ensure program compliance.

25% - The position works with the Student Information System (PeopleSoft/Oracle), companion systems, which support the college with a focus on financial aid program management, scholarships, student communication and verification (document imaging, student forms, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and other locally developed and commercial software tools, etc.). Supports quality control functions for all student aid populations (including second review and approval of C-codes, Unusual Enrollment History (UEH), over awards, defaults, etc.), and assists in the continued development and implementation of office policies and procedures. Processes special and unusual circumstance requests, using professional judgment and adhering to Federal Regulations to determine the impact on a students' financial aid eligibility.

25% - Provides program and policy advisement on financial aid processes to students and parents, discusses problems with appropriate administrators or professional staff persons, and seeks solutions within the framework of established policies and guidelines as appropriate. Counsels students and families about available financial aid, scholarships, and general student eligibility criteria. Serves as the primary contact for staff regarding student escalations. Assists and supports the training of staff, and temporary employees. Creates, manages, and assists with recruiting events and other campus/external events such as Open Houses, High School FAFSA nights, SCC-specific events, and orientation events.

15% - Collaborates with other departments to support student success, recruitment, retention, and degree completion. Assists the Manager and Director with analyzing Financial Aid reports and data. Recommends and assists with process improvements and team efficiencies, and partners with other departments to improve operational effectiveness. Provides leadership on committees, and participation in student and enrollment-related activities as assigned. Provides active involvement in assisting in the recruitment and retention of students.

10% - Assists with testing the accuracy of the annual program system set up within the Student Information System, including auto packaging, repackaging, disbursement dates, and student communications. Related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) full-time equivalent years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) full-time equivalent years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR GED/High School Diploma and six (6) full-time equivalent years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

Desired Qualifications

A. Four (4) or more years working in a financial aid office.

B. Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible financial aid experience awarding and administrating Title IV aid in a financial aid office.

C. Experience analyzing and interpreting financial aid policies, practices, procedures, regulations and guidelines.

D. Experience in planning, organizing, coordinating and presenting in events such as student workshops and staff training.

E. Experience using a computer or web-based technology in the delivery of programs and services (i.e. PeopleSoft, Financial Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Scholarship Manager, or other online scholarship software).

Special Working Conditions

• Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.

• Will be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.

• May be required to work evenings and weekends.

• May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.

• May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

• This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.

• Financial Aid Positions; In order to perform work in the SCC Financial Aid Department candidates cannot owe a repayment or be in default on any federal funds. Per Title IV Regulations, applicants for this position may not be a member of a person's family (parent, sibling, spouse, child, spouse's parent or sibling, or sibling's or child's spouse) who works in the SCC Student Business Services Department.
