Base Rate:

$20.31

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a five-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Class/Calendar:

B22, 12 months

Full-time (40 hours per week)

OVERVIEW:

To perform all aspects of graffiti removal, painting and other finishes on district facilities and equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Experience in the painting trade preferred
  • Good safety and work habits; good attendance record
  • Ability to safely rig ladders and equipment used in trade; to use airless paint sprayers, power washers and power roller equipment and to care for equipment and tools
  • Ability to build, set-up and work from scaffolding
  • Ability to work from various heights including ladders, extension ladders, and boom trucks
  • Ability to prepare various surfaces prior to painting; to mix all types of paints
  • Ability to work with different graffiti removing agents
  • Ability to coordinate workload using established priorities; to work alone and unsupervised
  • Ability to pass fit testing for respirator and wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Ability to lift and /or to move up to 100 pounds; to work outdoors and in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate various types of painting equipment
  • Perform all phases of graffiti removal
  • Clean-up of graffiti on various surfaces, walls, doors, signs, playground equipment, concrete slabs and all types of mechanical equipment (AC power boxes, etc.) 
  • Paint over graffiti on various surfaces as necessary
  • Match colors on buildings and make up colors using tints and tint bases as needed
  • Perform brush, roller and spray painting on district facilities and equipment
  • Prepare surfaces to be painted, stained or otherwise finished
  • Prepare and mix all types of paint and lacquer for application
  • Perform water blasting using a gas and/or electric powered power washer for graffiti removal as required 
  • Work outdoors in 100 degree+ heat, work nights and weekends as needed
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
